Valnerable to God

Psalm 26:2 Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; try my reins and my heart.

The heart of man is a very strong pillar in how and why God trusts and bestows responsibility on man. He doesn’t look for the golden heart, but He looks for a heart dead to its own sufficiency and opened to the sufficiency which is of God, fully sold out on the throne of grace and vulnerable on the altar of mercy.

Jesus came to enable man live from the inside out, because a dead heart only expressed dead works! Only a heart laid bare in the sufficiency of Christ carries life. The mystery of life is by the seed that supports it and in this case that seed grows on the ground of the heart.

Pride begins the moment one loses sight of the work of God in them and for them while looking at their labor for God. Then they seek a reward before men and before God for what only grace would merit them for, because only God can circumcise a human heart.

When the psalmist is saying, “examine and prove me”, he is saying, circumcise my heart. Like Paul says in Philippians 3:3, “For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.” Our boasting is in Christ, because our hearts are dead to all things but alive to Him. He has defined us by the extent of His perfect work in us and looks on that to trust us to change the world, pointing it to only Him.
